Cali Sader
Points of emphasis
-
Cali could improve on her first touch. This topic also goes along with being calm and not playing panicked. First touch is very important and can help a player feel much more in control. The difference i how you feel about a given play can not be overstated enough, if you compare a play with a poor first touch to a play with a good first touch. Cali has the ability to really improve in this segment of the game.

When you are an attacking player you need to be able to hit the ball with speed and power. We have been working on striking the ball with our left and right foot. Imphasising the need for laykin to lock her ankle when she shoots an to use the correct form to generate power.

The faster you can do things the better. Laykin has the ability to process things quickly so she should utilize this to her advantage. Her quicness is on of her strenghts. Good defenders do not give you time to handle the ball, they are on you right away.

First Touch
Laykin’s biggest improvement after the first four weeks has been with her first touch. Last season she several times a game and during training sessions she would make a first touch that was a non decision. This means that she would kick the ball away from her without an idea behind it. Now she is getting the tools and feeling more comfortable bring the ball to her feet. We will keep working on this so that when she gets in a game her first reaction will be to bring the ball to her feet and look up to make a play, ether by using her dribble or by making a pass.
