Kaili Taunt

Points of emphasis

  • You showed a lot in the Carlsbad Cup about your footwork and your strength. You did a great job with protecting the ball with your body and using good footwork to hold on to the ball to help us keep possession and advance the ball. When you did this you made really good decisions. Build your confidence from how you play when you are composed this is the real you and the main point of emphasis going forwards.

  • Kaili you have the ability to make good decisions as long as long as you are playing with composure. When you feel rushed and don’t let the game come to you then you make a bad decision.

  • Positioning is a topic we should address for you. The key is you need to scan the field a lot more and make sure to not only follow the ball or the player with the ball. Having good positioning takes scanning and looking for the player or players that are the biggest threat. These players are not always the ones that have the ball or are around the ball.

The goal is to even out the segments

Overview

Kaili I think you have made a huge step forward with feeling more relaxed on the soccer field. I really want to emphasis that I don’t think this is completely your fault at all. First of all I am guessing you have always played soccer as a defender and this can be stressful because when you make an error it can cause a goal. When a midfielder makes an error it not so crucial to the game or at least it doesn’t seem or feel that way. If is important that you start anew with your soccer career and think of this last tournament as your starting point.

I feel like we should keep talking about how you are feeling and where your at when it comes to this subject and then soon it will be in the past. Build confidence from the positives and then that will snowball and grow.

Positioning and scanning the field is the other subject I think we should work on to start the season. Once you have corrected these two areas you will be playing really good soccer and should be ready to not just play but stay on the field field during the highschool season.
